hmmmm. of course i am paraphrasing the famous mandy rice-davies.....but why is it that in the UK there is a whole raft of banks ,building societies, builders etc all making a virtual cartel trying to force britons into totally overvalued housing?
these scumbags make a fortune out of misery.....
so many people are in debt and just struggling to keep a roof over their heads...surely in this day and age all uk citizens should have a right to this?
but no-our politicos have wasted trillions of pounds of oil revenue over the last 30 years and we have sweet f/a to show for it except a bleedin great tent in greenwich and a greenhouse in cornwall......
our unelected prime minister gordon 'cnut' brown (i believe that is the correct spelling of the danish kings name) has just announced some trifling measures to offset some of the enormous cock-ups he has personally introduced...all talking bollox about how things are rosy in the garden....when the going was good (all an illusion) he,brown, was basking in the glory-yet now when things are going tits up-strangely its not his fault!!!!
this morning we had the revolting sight of mc cnut, badger and the ginger gnome all talking up the market........then we had some reaction from the 'City'.................
ALAN CLARKE, BNP PARIBAS
"The rise in the threshold represents a potential saving of up to 500 pounds. This incentive will last for a year, helping to attract first-time buyers. Small beer in itself -- probably the biggest impact will be to get rid of the uncertainty that has been lingering since the prospect of a stamp duty holiday was first floated. This has been lifted to some extent by today's announcement."
ED STANSFIELD, CAPITAL ECONOMICS
"The only reaction is really 'so what?'. The evidence from the early 1990s is that the stamp duty holiday introduced by the Conservatives had no effect whatsoever. It was only the end of the holiday which had an impact, which was short lived.
"If it's marginal finance and marginal savings people are after I don't think this changes much at all. People would be better waiting for house prices to fall."
(On the government's other housing measures) "The numbers involved from what I've seen are extremely small and I don't think they address the lack of confidence in the housing market.
"If anything, what they are doing is trying to limit the fallout and economic consequences for the more vulnerable families but the idea that it's a rescue package for the housing market is overblown."
PHILIP SHAW, INVESTEC
"The stamp duty holiday may provide the domestic housing market with a marginal stimulus but we doubt it will give a major effect in getting the housing market moving again."
so all not that much impressed.....
but wait....stand back....here comes a cartel member.......
HBOS PLC SPOKESWOMAN
"We welcome the government stamp duty initiative. This is a sensible measure and it will help the housing market."
SO THERE IT IS........ANOTHER VESTED INTEREST CHIMES IN-
MAYBE HBOS ARE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE?
MAYBE MRS. SPOKESPERSON WOULD LIKE TO RE-IMBURSE THE PUNTERS WHEN THEIR PROPERTIES DROP THROUGH THE FLOOR OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS?
COULDNT HAPPEN HERE?
well i have heard that said before...........
why is it that these people are lying through their teeth and trying to talk up an over-inflated market?
SURELY IT COULDNT BE SELF INTEREST?
PS sorry about the grammar-couldnt be bovvered!
